I decided to follow my rotation schedule and work on Houses of Hawk Run Hollow tonight. I am beginning to like House 4 a bit better now that the actual house is starting to grow. I have looked at this block done in NPI silks as well as Soie d'Alger, and see that it is a bunch of strange colors no matter what fibers are used :-) Anyhow... here is my question, how did Becky and Karen get their first house blocks stitched up so quickly? Mine feel like they are going soooo slowly.....

And, now I have another sampler that I have the strongest urge to stitch! I just recieved the Spring 2004 issue of Fine Lines from ebay today.... I adore this "Women of the Mayflower" sampler by the late Sarah Ullman of Olde Willow Designs. Maybe it is my New England roots that draw me to this, but I think it is the composition and the colors as well. Does anyone else have any plans to stitch this sampler?

OK, I am ready - the big weather warm up is due to hit us right.... now! Whew! And I have tomorrow off - I have an appointment to have the remote starter put in my Jeep in the early afternoon, and other than that, I am on my weekend now!!

There is sad news, though. Mike's friend that he went to see last weekend in NY passed away last night. Mike went to see him when he learned he was on hospice with 6-12 months predicted. Less than two weeks later, and it was all over. Very sad. This man was very dear to my husband.

Stitched on today: Papillon Creations Mystery Sampler and Houses of Hawk Run Hollow

Oh Carol, I'm so sorry to hear the news about Mike's dear friend ... it was a blessing, though, that he at least got to visit him before he passed away. Give him a big hug from down under for me :) {{Mike}}

Oh Carol, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mike's friend. Thank goodness he got to see him one last time. Please tell Mike that Bren and my best thoughts are with you both.

I will email you in the morning when I am not half asleep so I can catch up with you properly.

A big hug for you both.

Carol, I'm sorry to hear about Mike's friend passing away.
Your HoHRH house is looking fine, even the weird colours! And you're right, that sampler is gorgeous. Nothing to do with New England roots, I think, because I would stitch this one in a heartbeat, for the nautical bathroom. Although I must admit I still feel a bit iffy about hanging stitched pieces in the downstairs loo...

Oh, Carol, I love the Mayflower women sampler and now I want to do it too! I've got to stop reading your blog and finding new things to stitch--the sampler companies should pay you to showcase their stuff! And I'm a transplanted New Englander (Cape Cod) also, so maybe it's that. I'm working on HHRH also, but toward the left instead of toward the right as you have--and it's taking me forever (the house with all the black behind it), so I know what you're talking about...

I'm sorry to hear about Mike's friend.

I am saddened to hear of your husband's loss. It's always difficult losing a good friend.

I'm sorry to hear the sad news about Mike's friend.

I like the "strange" colors of HOHRH. Maybe they look a bit different on the pic :-)
But the sampler ist nothing for me...I'm so glad about this ;-) There's so much I want to stitch LOL

I'm sure that Mike's friend will be missed. I'm very glad that he got to see him before his time was gone. However, I do have to admit that after watching Terry's mom go downhill for months that it is a mixed blessing for someone to go that quickly. Hard for the family and friends left behind, but also a relief that he is no longer in pain. I'll be thinking of you both. *hug*

I love the Women of the Mayflower Sampler, btw. It's a beautiful piece.

Carol,

I'm sorry to hear about Mike's friend (I'm way behind on my blog reading). I hope that it was a relief that he went quickly instead of haning on for months. Sometimes I think its better to pass quickly then to hang on and have no quality of life.

Your houses are coming along nicely.
